Birthday Girl!

Nicole turned seven last weekend and had a "backwards" birthday party to celebrate.  She had only five candles on her cake which they ate upside down on their plates and also under the table.  They played pin the donkey on the tail and Limbo, except they had to see who could jump the highest to touch the broom instead of the lowest to go under.  Of course they all wore their clothes backwards and I think everyone had a great time.  Nicole was absolutely thrilled with every gift that she was given.  In the pic above she is wearing the pj's Grandma Williams made for her and her doll.

Tyler didn't notice any of the gifts until she opened this salon chair for her doll.  He immediately thought it was for him and was not happy that Nicole wouldn't let him sit in it.

It was too sad though, so we finally convinced her to let him sit in it and he was very happy.  This is his "very happy" look in case you don't know him very well :)

This is the card from Granny Jo and Grandpa.  They are giving all the grandkids tickets to Lagoon that they will be cashing in this summer.  The card came with sticker earrings which was very exciting!

Nicole got about 5 rolls of duct tape and has Heidi busy making her stuff ever since.  Here are some of Heidi's creations above which include, flip-flops, purses, wallets, slippers, bracelets, hair bows, pencil holders, and kindle straps galore!  She also made shoes, a vest, a belt, bracelet, and bow for Nicole's doll that aren't in the picture but are very cute.  I told her she should go into business :)  She spent so much time on it today that her shoulder was hurting by dinner time.  Duct tape!  Who new??

Last weekend the high school here did a mock American Idol called "Singin' in the Burbs".  Heidi and her friends entered and it was a really great experience for them.  We thought she was very brave for doing it and of course we thought she did a wonderful job so wanted to share her final performance here.  She sang "The Girl I Mean to Be" from the Secret Garden.  She had to make it through two preliminary rounds and then ended up taking third place in the final round.

Some quick pics

Thought I would post a few random pics while Tyler is slowly eating his muffin with a fork :)  We'll have more to come next week as Nicole will be celebrating her 7th birthday!

This is what I resort to when Tyler is whining and hanging on my leg while I'm trying to make dinner.  We end up with a few oats on the floor but nothing a broom can't handle.  This is his "Happy Place".

This is what happens when I send Nicole in to entertain him on Saturday mornings while I get the pancakes going.  He would probably be happy in here forever until he realized he was starving.

Nicole still likes rocking and singing to him.  He had just fallen and was crying when she rescued him in this pic.  He was quite enjoying it too.  That's not always the case these days.

A happy little man with his comfy chair and the remote :)

Following in his sisters footsteps.  We have now added percussion to the mix as well with Heidi taking an after school percussion class.  Our instruments keep getting louder and louder!
